Hemophilia B: Symptoms, Signs, and Causes
Recognizing the Signs of Hemophilia B. One of the hallmark signs of Hemophilia B is bleeding into the joints, known as hemarthrosis. This can cause pain, swelling, and decreased range of motion in the affected joint, commonly involving knees, elbows, and ankles. Repeated joint bleeds can lead to chronic joint damage and arthritis if not managed properly. Other signs include muscle bleeds, which cause swelling, pain, and stiffness, and prolonged bleeding after circumcision in male infants, which is often one of the earliest indications of the disorder.
